McCain...Lock Step with President Bush
I think to win the general election in November, John McCain must stand closer to our President.

We all know he has supported Mr. Bush in everything the President has wanted. But he seems afraid to admit it. With all the wonderful things this President has done for the American people, you would think McCain would like to tout our war time accomplishments, the economy and those tax breaks.

He just does not seem to want to.

What are your thoughts? Is he hiding?

The day McClain embraces torture is the day he loses my vote.
IMO, the further McClain distances himself from the imagery of Bush, the better his chances for victory.
Bush is an idiot, afterall

I hadn't looked for quite some time.
Here's a collection of polls dating back several years.

I think McCain is going to need the support of the moderate and independents which I suspect aren't favorable to the Bush policies.

McCain would be better off explaining his positions in his own words.
Bush carries too much baggage to emulate, imo.

Bush grabbed the moderates and the independents. Twice mind you.

No, John McCain needs to show how smart he is. Like the President.

Gore was a toss up, the second election was about who was hated the most.....Kerry won that badge.

McCain does need to show intelligence, but I don't think he's lacking.
Bush -------------------------> _........I would like to see him start demonstrating that quality at least before he leaves office

McCain is playing this thing well, IMO, staying low while the Democratic candidates tussle. The Republicans in general are playing it well. Mitt Romney's early pullout was a master stroke.

Methinks he stands a very good chance of taking the election, all on his own, without mimicking Bush. It has to be said that, other than McCain's support for the war, and baseline economic beliefs, McCain doesn't seem to have much in common with Bush. Methinks this is why hardline conservatives dislike the guy. When Coulter said she'd rather vote Hillary than McCain, I knew this guy was something different. Hopefully, something better.

have to agree with you there WarC... hes playing his cards very well, next to the squabbling democratic candidates.

his wife was on J Leno last night... two things I got out of it... they both lied right up until they got their marriage certificate about how old they were... and they don't have a clue what the other is doing. Both of which I thought...wasn't a good idea to have shared because it makes them out to be liars....which I am sure the US people are tired of liars for leaders.

The American people are just about ready to accept another liar as president just in order to have a smart liar over a dumb honest man. The Bush fad is out, the Clinton fad is back in. But Obama is the best liar out of all three of the current dwarfs left in the running, so I'm guessing he'll be pres.

The problem is, both Clinton and McCain, as well as Bush, are THE classic example of a neocon. The only thing different about McCain is the presentation - obviously he's a better speaker. And he hasn't yet sold his soul to the Chinese Communists, unlike every single member of the Clinton family.

Unfortunately, whoever becomes president, and Barack is the worst in this respect, our government is going to grow like it never has before. Big Government is back in fashion, even though you'd think Bush had put a distaste in people's mouth's for that sort of thing.

Did ANY Clinton ever admit to having lied?

Think long and hard about this. The surest sign of a liar is that he never admits to having been dishonest. Most, if not all, people have lied at some point in their lives, and one of the best ways of knowing someone is honest(relative to the rest of the population of the planet) is that they admit their lies.
