Want to spend my money - need a new car/suv
This is the poorer persons version of GB's thread about buying a new car..

This is posted in CD since Wino seems to have a penchant to always make something political.

I have a Durango which is getting on in age. I drive about 20k miles a year. I need something that I can haul boxes that are about 2' square by about 5' long max.

Time to look at something that is much better on gas consumption.

Budget is $25k max. My boss is cheap.............

Consider used....one to two years old. You'll get a lot more vehicle for your 25 grand.

The perfect vehicle for such a capitlistic chintzy corporate mogul that can't afford a phone system that can block telemarketers is a 2008 Hong Kong Rickshaw Convertible. A match made in heaven.

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan bought a year old with 13K miles on it for 19K.
It replaced a 2000 same model I put 110K miles with absolutely no mechanical problems (which I kept as a second car.)
The 2005 and newer Caravans have seats that fold into the floor with length/width capable of carrying full sheets of plywood, and height enough to bring home a riding lawnmower.
The only objection I have with the 2005 is a crazy spare tire location between the front seats flat under the car (which I had the opertunity to use at night on a backwoods dirt road last week.)
Best of both worlds as cargo or passenger carriers.

You must have meant this for Bassettman. Would you like me to forward this to him? Unlike him, I pay for our guys health care and they have a retirement plan. And I would be willing to be the hourly wages he pays are about half what I pay.

I see you came out of that dark cave you live in again. You still got the limited vocabulary though.

Hey, I haven't used "funeral hearse" ever----Why don't you go dig a hole in your postage stamp backyard and try to hit oil?

Hi Bill

Do you need 4wheel drive?

Is your replacement going to be used as a family vehicle?

Have you thought about a pickup truck with a cap over the bed?
Ford seems to have dome decent deals on full size pkups in my area.

Howdy Jack

It does not have to be 4 wheel drive but I would prefer it. As I sometimes have to go to work sites that can be muddy. Plus it is nice to have it when we get a large snowfall.

We have a HHR which my wife drives. It is fine for most family stuff but if we went on a long trip it would be a bit cramped in the back seat. So I kind of want something a bit bigger so we can use it for trips if any of the kids tag along.

Due to the economy we have cut back a lot on stocking materials. So I have been doing a lot more picking up of materials and expect that to continue. Thus the need to be able to haul boxes that are 2' x 4' approximately. Plus I want the ability to haul small trailers.

I have thought about one of the Hybrids such as the Saturn Vue Green Line but I am not sure if they have them perfected yet. For the next year or two I will be traveling a bit for business association meetings thru out the state so I need something reliable.

Dude! Buy a bike and go green. Send the rest of your money to the church of satan so we can all get black and scarlet KKK style robes we can wear to our next virgin sacrifice!

The problem with your theory is that if I'm a member of the church there won't be any virgins.

In the church in question we don't need virgins. There will hot strippers with plenty of experience. They would be the closest thing to being worshiped and they would be there and not in some pie in the sky thing called heaven.
