OBAMA,
Yes I am Voting for him for several reasons however I still think, not hope, that he will win!
1. McCain's age in and of itself is of no matter however when you couple that with his years in captivity and his inability to put those concerns to rest, it makes a difference.
I could only think that his experience in the war, while heroic, has aged him beyond his years.
2. While most people would never bring up his experience in a negative way, I don't think most people in the military, even in his day could go through something like that without real, lasting, damage to their personality, and they would have a far better chance than anyone who has not served, on average. So voters must ask themselves, at this time in our history, in our generations lifetime, whatever generation you are in, is it responsible to roll the dice on someone who through no fault of their own may be impaired in his responses to outside stimuli?
Yeah, I can feel the crosshairs from every roof top.Sorry but as a realist I cant see how any responsible person could approach an election without at least being willing to have a conversation about the 400 pound gorilla in the corner.
3. As Americans it is natural for us to strive to be better than we are, and yes, the down side of that is that we rarely attain that position, but we shouldn't give up trying. McCain's stand on most of the issues is artless and without vision of any future better than our present situation. I hear him talk about innovation, I just don't think his idea of innovation and Obama's idea of innovation occupy space in the same universe. We have had 8 years of Conservative, Republican agenda. 8 years of seeing the world through are wallets and the Cold War mentality of the 1900's. Now is the time to move forward not backward. That is not to say there is never a time for Conservative Republicans, but this is not it! All things in moderation, now is the time for Balance and for positioning ourselves to be on top in 70 years, not to be on top next week, that battle has already been fought and all the rhetoric to the contrary is made by political solders who if you notice would rather flap their jaws than join the front line. The problem is this only weakens us from behind.
4. Obama, While inexperienced, is a level headed thinking human being. Before you scoff, I don't think we are all going to join hands and sing together, in fact I would not be surprised at all if we remove our troops from Iraq only to see them leave again for Afganistan once Obama is elected and I don't think as many people would have a problem with that as you may think. Not all Democrats hope to go to Berkeley when they Die! Obama's lack of experience at this time is a plus. We have had some of the most experienced guy's around in positions of power for a while now, not counting Bush himself. It's not a lack of experience , it's a lack of stuff on his shoes. True he may track in something himself but it wont be the same old ...You get my point.
5. Having a BLACK MAN as our president, there I said it!, will move us forward in countless ways. I don't think it will be easy or painless and before anyone accuses me of anything, it is worth noting that anyone who feels the need to, is only proving the point at the beginning of this sentence. It is as mandatory as a WOMAN, ASIAN or HISPANIC becoming President. My team has had the ball long enough, the only negative is that as we prove that anyone of any color, sex of sexual preference for that matter, can be President. We have to be extra careful that we help everyone avoid the mistakes that we have made. Otherwise you get Affirmative Action, A good meaning
attempt at leveling the playing field that gives another group of people the chance to get a foot in the door because they are qualified and make the error of holding it open for all of the friends and relatives who are not qualified. White people invented nepotism in this country and just look how well it's worked for everyone who isn't white. Hell, look how well it's worked out for people who are white!
6.Obama has the ability to make a great many people feel like they can make a difference, or in other words , he has proven he can lead people ,to do more themselves, for themselves and for others. While McCain is not going to lead anyone anywhere. Instead he is going to get out of everyones way ,as long as we agree to give him the toy's that go boom!
7.luckily, for me, as I am supporting Obama he has the longevity to last 8 years. Lets face it, if Republicans and Democrats can agree on any thing it is this, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to solve all our problems in 4 years, never has been, never will be.
LAST:
All of this from a straight, drug and alcohol free, white, 41 year old male who thinks the only two problems with the death penalty are it's name and the fact that we don't use it more often.
Sorry, I don't see a problem with murders, child molester and rapist being put down. It would save time, space and money if we removed them from the equation and the gene pool.I am not saying it would solve all our problems, or any of them other than the time, space and money that we waste on people who will never be non-murders, child molesters and rapists and if you are someone who thinks a violent criminal can be rehabilitated, let the murder live in your house, the child molester babysit your children and the rapist be your daughters best friend. The reason that last comment is so disgusting is because we feel disgusted when we hear it. Why do we feel that way? What would we think if our spouse announced that any of the three things mentioned above were going to happen this weekend, in our homes, exactly so don't get mad at me for pointing it out!
Remember, the glass is not half empty , the glass is not half full,
THE GLASS IS TOO BIG!
