I'm hoping we never find out what type of president McCain would be.

No we won't. It depends on who he picks for a running mate. As far as conservatives are concerned this election is a lost cause no matter who wins. The fight among true conservatives is whether to vote for Obama or not. Hillary and Barack, given their stated economic policy, are nothing more then Jimmie Carter, without the personality. We are screwed for the next 4 years no matter what, conservatives have to plan for the long haul. For four years we hold our noses, allow the liberals to screw it up and with the resulting backlash allowing for an extended conservative control of the government.

We've been screwed, blued and tattooed for the last 8 years anyway so how could it
possibly get any worse? Scratch that as I'm sure McCain will think of something if he
does slither in. McCain "doesn't really understand economics" but he can rely on the
advice of Phil Gramm. That pair has been so good together anyway.

What are "true Conservatives" are they the ones dedicated to Bush /Cheney ???.
Are they the moderates ? or the far right ?.
I can see moderate Republicans possibly switching and voting Democratic out of disgust , but never the nutcase wing !. >f

I'm aware that alot of Americans here claim they don't care what the rest of the world thinks of the US, but those who do should give Obama a chance. Pending any foreign policy disasters, the best McCain can hope for is a mild indifference; if you want to see crowds thronging the streets of London, Paris etc to greet the American president with a message of change, go Obama. Assuming Iraq heads towards stability - big assumption - and there are no more foreign disasters. McCain might be viewed with less of the hostility that Bush has attracted, but Obama is the opportunity to get the rest of the world behind America again.

Of course, if you really don't care, vote McCain, leave the passport application in the drawer, and carry on twitching the net curtains

Vote for the idiot Obama and you'll see how it could be worse. He'll make Jimmie Carter seem like an economic genius.

I think it really depends on how Hillary's supporters vote. If they back Obama (and a decent number of them won't), then Obama has a decent chance of winning. If not, McCain is definitely getting into office.

I'm not thrilled with either candidate. Or any of the candidates, for that matter. Paul or Gravel are... ok. I'd rather see Obama than McCain simply because I want to see better foreign policy and the Patriot Act repealed as soon as possible. I'm disappointed by Obama's policy with Israel and a couple other issues.

Me too ! among other things .
I am curious , what exactly do you disagree with Obama over ----regarding his policy toward Israel ?. He is very supportive of Israel - perhaps too much so in your opinion ?. >f

The winner will be either Obama or McCain, but I wonder how long it will take before we elect a third party. The Republican's and Democrats are looking out for themselves, not us, and in the process destroying the country/economy. How bad do things need to get before we stop electing the same damn people into office? Hopefully it will be in my lifetime and then we can switch to range voting and stop getting the least favored candidate.
