Though Reagan didn't right is own speeches later in his presidency, he did personalize them and he did so sometimes against the wishes of his advisors. This is what we are seeing with Palin.
All politicians on the big stage use speech writers, but not all can deliver a speech like a Reagan or yes, like a Palin!

Reagan was quite the dapper individual with a presidential demeanor as well.

Again, big head vs little head. Quote: |

I predict that within a fairly short space of time the novelty will wear off and her annoying diatribes will become known as Palin-drones.

#21 | Obama, the man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate.

#23 | Obama and the liberals, say again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems - as if we all didn't know that already.
But the fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.
Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, [they're] going to lay more pipelines ... build more nuclear plants ... create jobs with clean coal ... and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. | | Distinguished Member with 7,165 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: The void AKA edge of the Fens Experience: I bent my wookie :( |

#27 | I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities. I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.
We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco. | | Account Disabled with 3,348 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Texas Experience: Intermediate |

I heard she took part in some beauty contests. I get Google results for "Bulldog Wins Beauty Contest", but not for "Moose wins (or comes close) in beauty contest". Maybe she ate it. | | Account Disabled with 3,348 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Texas Experience: Intermediate |

#30 | In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers.
...And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change. | |
