Let me set you straight on one point. It's not the DEMS that are continuing to bash her....her OWN party has a very major role in this debacle. And of course, the press. But, they are to be blamed for propaganda one way or another. News sells. And this has OBVIOUSLY been a very slow news month, so far. No war, no economic crisis, no bankruptcies, no missing blonde haired girls in Aruba Oh wait, that's back in the news now

Sorry if I come across too harsh

I know you didn't say all DEMS. By the way, I don't consider myself a DEM or REP, just in case you were wondering

I saw your reply. Figured I'd TBT (think before typing ) a reply to that one....you are long winded

Vacation fine so far...a little rain here and there....but, that's Panama this time of year.......

No bad blood here . I want her to run as VP again , or even Pres !.
She would be ideal to lead the Republicans in 2012 and beyond ! >f

Its really pretty simple . I never wanted another Republican in office to start with, but .....I thought McCain would be liveable if he should be elected , not good , but better than Bush .
You know he had fair reputation in spite of the incidents over the years . I cheered him when he made statements opposing torture .
I believe lots of Democrats felt the same way.
And then came the change in the campaign , and Palin.
The idea of Palin being a step away of the Presidency was something that was not what many moderate Republicans , or any Democrats I know could stomach, just too much !.
It would have been a terrible thing , half the country would hated her every minute ---- back to that that stuff again , just like with Bush.
Division of that nature is destructive , not what we need.
I really believe if McCain would have won {with a respectable and moderate VP} , made a clean brake with the past , we democrats would have just pouted and cried in our beer ---Palin ? another thing altogether .
I suppose the reasons she was so divisive with Repubs , and universally disliked by the left varied with people , I can't speak for everyone .
Myself , in the beginning , I thought McCain may have pulled off coup ! really did something to aid his campaign , until I listened to her . The more I listened , well , I was shocked that this person was even considered . I know women in our office who are more informed and they are not even in politic .
In short , it was almost an insult , slap to face . It also put McCains judgement in question with me .
Sometimes things go beyond just conservative vs liberal , it did with me . I simply could not imagine this woman as VP -- possibly President -- or representing the majority of us .
There comes a point when these things have to be considered , country first. It would have been extremely divisive when we least need that sort of thing .
I admit , I do not support Republicans , so I am a poor one to respond to your post .
But, you ask an honest question , and I give a honest answer. Its only my take on this . >f

Doesn't all of this emphasise the urgency of January 20th next Year............how all of this is everything that was latently wrong with what was happening before? Kalach to Stalingrad took 2 Months too y'know!!!!!

If Palin was the Victim of her own Party remember what Bush said about People being played off against each other.............well, he got his 'Regime Change' now we have this bit. This is what happens when you have an environment as poisonous as they made it! I feel sorry for moderate Republicans who are probably quite decent People and now have to contend with all this. It isn't good for Democracy at all to have a Situation like this. We had a similar thing with the Labour Party during the Thatcher Era - and with the Tories during the early Years of New Labour. Absolutist Government corrupts - and ............................etc!

I never heard a person running for national office seem so ill prepared , uninformed . Much is said about her experience as Gov, but that didn't fly with me .
On a different level , she also seemed to the right of McCain , which in MY case is a bad thing { many moderate Republican too I would guess} ---but she never would have got my vote anyway .
There was her background , education many things thrown around , but I would say uniformed and ill prepared would be the major thing with most voters .
I believe she was a very poor choice no matter what our politic is . >f

Nope - I'd say the USA won and the Republicans lost!

It's the difference between the interests of the Party and those of the People. In this instance the (Republican) Party did much damage to the USA in terms of how everyone now perceives it vis a vis American People, what this now means for any US Foreign Policy, and America generally. The Democrats now have to reconvince not only their own People about the US and Democracy - but everyone elses too! What needs to happen now is a Process of consolidation and the Party Activists job is anything but over! The Media might make much of the Obama Family etc and the transition in Washington but this is only a very small part of the Process. It's crucial that the huge movement for democatic Rehabilitation doesn't lose momentum because if it does the only People who will benefit will be those just voted out!

It's now not so much about who is becoming President - but why!

When those now voted out - and their New Labour Stooges here - found out who wrote an Article that was distributed around the Media a few Years ago I (was forced) to meet every closet Neocon that ever crawled out of the Woodwork. This went on for so long and was so stage managed and omnipresent I began to ask whether we had any Opposition to it at all here. Hence my Metaphors from another Conflict - just because of the complete Dearth of any Evidence of opposition at all. It was like they'd bought an entire Area and it was all being run by a sort of Milo Charecter from the Film "Catch 22" (and if you've ever seen the Film or read the Book you'll see the rather poignant reference). I very occasionally met someone who seemed quite genuine - but they weren't exactly an Omnipresence like the Neocons were.
