I'm a little surprised that McCain's team didn't have a woman writer do this for her... or better yet, let her write it herself, at least this one time.

I don't get it. I think there could be some good humor in there but the wording is a bit confusing .
I didn't actually watch the convention tonight either but I did read the speech.

I was quite surprised that a speech that was doubtless put together over several days by seasoned writers contained obvious factual inaccuracies. There are other differences between pit bulls and hockey moms. Pit bulls are banned in some places, and must be muzzled in public in other places.
Me, suggest anything? Unlikely.

FWIW our country was once run by a forceful right-wing woman. Well, to begin with she ran it; then she ran it into the ground. 
A pit bull with lipstick? Something about a silk purse and a sow's ear springs to mind. Then again, I read that she has a beef with pork.
But mainly, wouldn't you agree that Mulder hides his disappointment well? The woman of his dreams and he'll never get the chance.
