Any way, I saw BM's point as nobody ever said records, your car, a book or almost anything I can think of will last "forever" I have a drill, a Thor, and on it it says, " Won't burn out", and you know what, the thing is older almost then me and it still works perfectly. When CD's came out oh the hype about how crisp and clear they sounded and how the would last forever. I felt jipped. That's not to say I am going to go out and steal music to make up the difference ...OK so the idea did cross my mind once....twice |
nope, he's still aiming for Supreme Galactic Overlord....thanks for asking, btw....
little monkeytwit.....lately we've taken to pretend karate, and dammit, but that kid is fast, and needs to have his fingernails cut off, preferably at the elbow.....I look like I shaved with a blender, and one of my ears has a nice half-moon taken out of it.....
Nothing lasts forever. Nothing. That drill is a good example; when I bought a very nice Craftsman (insert trademark symbol here) 15 years ago, and used the crap out of it until about 2 weeks after we moved into our house in 2k3, it never once crossed my mind to return it and demand a new one. Ditto for the records that I've, again, literally worn smooth. Ditto for the cd's that have either become scratched or monkeytwit got hold of and used them to sand the driveway with.
Things wear out. I've got a set of golf clubs that off a no-questions asked life-time guarantee. I had my 6 and 9 iron busted during a flight to Hawaii one year, about 5 years after I bought them, and called them up, and they said send them in. But the fact is, THEY offer a 'no questions asked, lifetime guarantee'. In the case of the drill, there was no guarantee, and I'd more than gotten my money's worth out of it, so it was time to upgrade.
Like when my television I bought in 1986 died in 2k5.....reckoned I had got my money's worth, and so went and bought a new one. Didn't expect to get one for free.
Not only is it the principle of the matter, it's also plain common sense.
AND, since you brought it up, I'll go to my grave knowing (not thinking, but knowing, mind you) that a good turntable setup will smoke anything digital, sound-wise.....
