Then come to some conclusion as to why the democratic party continues to lose headway in the south (and also the midwest.) For a hint these areas feel the party is heartless about listening to concerns from voters that provide the food/ construction supplies and manufacturing manpower to support an overburdened government. The party no longer can tolerate discent from anyone-thery are chastized for voting the will of voters in their districts. #1660 | Speaking of Dodd: Dodd circulates bill to strip Fed of regulation powers
Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) is circulating a bill that would strip the Federal Reserve and other federal agencies of their powers to regulate the banking industry, instead creating a new agency to do that job. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...l?hpid=topnews | | Community Moderator with 50,226 posts. | | Join Date: Jan 2003 Location: Central USA Experience: Need no stinking badges |

Do you not see the inherent opportunity for rampant government corruption?
I don't trust either party when it comes to the Fed.
Read Ron Paul's new book. I have not been a fan of Ron Paul, but he predicted this, and your story is showing that he was right. I am confident that if you take the time to research it and even read the cribb notes that you will be shocked to learn just how utterly irresponsible it would be to place the Fed in the hands of Congress.
I'd rather have the foxes guarding the henhouse than a wildfire guarding it.
At least the fox stops eating when he's full.
My Avatar is the good Doctor Zoidberg fropm the animated comedy, Futurama.
Whoop, whoop, whoop!

#1664 | November 13, 2009 Sentencing scheduled for former Louisiana congressman. Crime = Time.
Posted: November 13th, 2009 01:09 PM ET
From CNN's Paul Courson
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (CNN) - Former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court Friday for his conviction last summer on 11 counts of corruption.
He faces a sentence of up to 150 years in prison, but the judge may accept sentencing guidelines that range from 27 to 33 years. Prosecutors and Jefferson's defense attorney have filed arguments they hope will influence the judge's decision. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...a-congressman/ | | Distinguished Member with 66,600 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: California Experience: Intermediate |

#1665 | NOVEMBER 14, 2009. Immigrant Bill Is Back on Table
By MELANIE TROTTMAN
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano called Friday for Congress to consider an overhaul of immigration law early next year, a move that could rekindle a divisive debate during an election year.
Ms. Napolitano said the immigration landscape has changed sharply since 2007, when attempts at a comprehensive overhaul failed because many members of Congress lacked confidence in the government's ability to enforce existing laws, she said. Immigration overhauls backed by the Bush administration and some congressional leaders from both parties foundered in part because critics portrayed them as rewarding illegal immigrants with "amnesty" for violating U.S. law. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125816110639347917.html | |
