the only thing she has done to spur business growth is to give a tax break to movie makers. yeah a democrat giving a tax break to the wealthy. and it brought in a lot of activity.
no she is worthless and the worst possible choice to have as an economic adviser. I am serious when I say this shows poor judgment on Obamas part. He picked her for political reasons only. Probably due to the auto company issues. Another example of his style over substance. #68 | NOVEMBER 8, 2008, 12:24 P.M. ET Pelosi, Reid Press for TARP Aid for Auto Industry
By GREG HITT
WASHINGTON -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are expected to send a letter to President George W. Bush urging him to assist the Big Three auto makers by considering broadening the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program to help the troubled industry.
The two top Democratic leaders in Congress are likely to make the request in a letter to the White House, which could be forwarded as soon as Saturday afternoon, said individuals familiar with the matter. President-elect Barack Obama is generally supportive of the appeal, but at the moment is moving on his own track to assist the industry, these individuals said.
The White House has been reluctant to broaden use of the $700 billion program, which was created by Congress just ahead of the election to deal improve credit flows and calm turmoil in financial markets incited by the downturn in the housing economy.

#69 | House Speaker Pushing for Lame-Duck Session
By DAVID STOUT
Published: November 11, 2008
WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi signaled on Tuesday that she wants a lame-duck session of Congress next week, and that a life-preserver of some sort for America’s imperiled automobile industry is likely to be high on the agenda.
Ms. Pelosi said she was confident that the lawmakers could come up with emergency legislation next week, “and I hope the Bush Administration would support it.”
The Senate was already expected back next week to take up legislation concerning public lands and to reorganize, so if the House also reconvenes, as Ms. Pelosi’s statement portended, then both chambers will be able to take up the issue of how to try to rescue Detroit, and how much taxpayers’ money to put at risk.
President-elect Barack Obama has urged President Bush to support a rescue of the auto industry, but the president has declined to commit himself.

#70 | Senators Hurry to Keep Health Care in Forefront
By Ceci Connolly
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, November 12, 2008; Page A08
Two of the Senate's most influential leaders are working separately behind the scenes on legislation that would dramatically alter the way Americans get health care, hoping their early efforts -- including the release today of a position paper -- will push President-elect Barack Obama to move rapidly on the issue and spare the incoming administration some of the missteps that killed Bill Clinton's health reform initiative in 1994.
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) is unveiling a 104-page blueprint today that serves as the opening move in a fierce competition in the Senate to frame the debate. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), who is battling a life-threatening brain cancer, has directed aides over the past several months to convene negotiating sessions with a diverse group of stakeholders, including physicians, patient advocates, small-business owners and insurers. He intends to have legislation drafted by Inauguration Day.
The first promise Obama made as a presidential candidate was to enact a universal health-care plan by the end of his first term, but since his victory a week ago, he has focused on repairing the economy. Health reform advocates fear that just as Clinton was sidetracked in early 1993 by debates over the North American Free Trade Agreement and gays in the military, Obama's urgency about taking on health care may wane.
"President Clinton came in determined to do something significant on health-care reform" but did not submit a bill until 10 months after taking office, noted Ron Pollack, executive director of the pro-consumer health group Families USA. "A president's leadership is most effective before he expends much of his political capital."

Most Americans say it is good Democrats control Congress and the White House
Democrats are viewed favorably by 62 percent of those polled
More than half, 52 percent, have an unfavorable view of Republicans Nearly nine out of 10 want Democrats to include GOP in policy decisions
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John McCain railed against Democratic control of Washington during his closing argument of his presidential campaign.
And the Republican presidential nominee warned America about the liberal trio of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid and presidential nominee Barack Obama.
"We're getting a glimpse of what one-party rule would look like under Obama, Pelosi and Reid. Apparently, it starts with lowering our defenses and raising our taxes," McCain said repeatedly on the campaign trail in the final weeks leading up to Election Day.
Not only did Obama beat McCain in the presidential election, the Democrats picked up seats in Congress. And a new national poll suggests why a majority of voters didn't seem to buy McCain's argument.

President-elect Barack Obama to renew efforts to hunt down Osama bin Laden
"We will kill bin Laden," he said in a debate last month
Intelligence officials say it won't be easy; one says spies on the ground is key
"I don't think the American people will accept him surviving and us leaving"
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President-elect Barack Obama wants to renew the U.S. commitment to finding al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, according to his national security advisers.
The Obama team believes the Bush administration has downplayed the importance of catching the FBI's most-wanted terrorist because it has not been able to find him.
