If nothing else this thread proves that no matter how stupid a rule is it will be enforced.

BTW, which admin/mod has the job of running down each new member to compare the picture posted with their actual face?

I'm suspecting someone didn't think this rule through when creating it. Probably Mulder.

Hello, Bastiat!

Here is a post that might answer about who takes care of this stuff:

Admin duties

The administration here (from what I've seen) seem pretty accommodating in allowing discourse regarding policy and such. Do you think "anything goes" in the profile should be OK? Or.. where would you draw the line?

I guess I'm curious why one would think it stupid. It seems reasonable enough to me.

It is silly because nobody can verify if it is an actual picture of the member.

Bingo! (Pretty astute for someone as sharp as a bowling ball. )

Responding to the questions asked. My post does not imply that I believe in a laissez-faire attitude with respect to the profile. By the same token I don't draw lines. The point made was that a rule which can't be enforced (I'm speaking to the posting of ones photo) is superfluous and ,arguably, counter-productive (i.e. see this thread). Clearly the posting of something other than a photo violates the rule and easily enforced but the same can not be said of a photograph of a human face. Is it me or Memorex?
Take for example the photo of Wacor posted in his profile. I know for a fact that he looks like the south end of a north bound cow. Clearly, he stole someones' identify.

Of course we can't be sure the photo is really of them but the chances are greater if it's an actual person rather than a pet, car or other object. Unless of course it's a photo of Brad Pitt.

As Candy mentioned earlier in this thread, she, Laura and I alternate 3 month jail terms to handle these. An e-mail is generated to us every time someone uploads or changes their profile photo.

Since a profile is supposed to be telling us something about the person, it stands to reason that a profile photo would be a photo of the person. Otherwise, we might as well not allow any uploads there. Come to think of it, that works for me.

I think my sarcasm shot over your head. My point was that you can't compare the photo with the actual face of the person unless you and Candy are running around the world knocking on doors. (<sarcasm again.) Now please don't misunderstand my point, you and Mike can have whatever rules you want.....no problem.....just understand that some, such as only posting your own face, are, by their very nature, unenforceable if you want only a picture of that person's face because you can't know if its their actual face or not.

I would suggest that some members be restricted from posting a profile picture. Ugly can be a depressant and we don't a lot of depressed members floating around here. I won't mention names of the members, somethings are just self-evident.

You are EXACTLY correct. Don't let the fact that my profile picture looks EXACTLY like Brad Pitt cause you any concern. Its me, honest. Its a burden I have to live with all the middle age women fawning all over me and constantly being approached for autographs. (<sarcasm, just in case you missed it.)

Unless they are being "twisted" in your favor. Then everything is honky-dory.
