#19 | But the US isn't democratic - http://www.usconstitution.net/xconst_A4Sec4.html
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government
People who are not taught about government have thoughts of being democratic and I bet you ask a majority of the population they would say we are... but we are not.
We me have been granted democratic types of liberties through our government but we are still a republic.
I just wonder why everyone is so gung-ho about bringing democracy across the world and to other nations when we are not doing it here?

But the US isn't democratic
| The US government is a federal republic. Our society is however structured on democratic principles..
The US isn't spreading democratic forms of government around the world......the US is attempting to spread forms of republics based on how we perceive democracy. It's sounds more altruistic to claim the goal is 'democracy'....... most likely for the support of involvement of both the US citizen and the foreign countries being overthrown.......err...scratch that.....convinced

BTW, whats an ex-felon? | I believe ex-felon is terminology for someone who has served their time and is off probation and parole. I like to use it because of my preference of not labeling a person because of one event. For example, you may have gotten drunk once but that does not forever mean that you are a drunkard. | | Community Moderator with 16,982 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2002 Location: Cowtown, against my will Experience: PHD -poop handling degree |

#26 | The Athenians: Another warning from history?. The collapse of Greek democracy 2,400 years ago occurred in circumstances so similar to our own it could be read as a dark and often ignored lesson from the past, a new study suggests.

#28 | Hi Bill,
You sound like a broken record. You should consider changing the record. I usually run a Search before I post on any issue. Your complaints are without any merit whatsoever - evah!
If only you would read the articles I post links to - yes, you Bill - could learn something you don't know instead of deciding you have already made up your mind, and no one can change it - it just shows you and your brethern conservative ilk are spent, broken, and couldn't think up a new idea to save your sorry butts. Hint: Maybe the Republicans should take up REFORM as the new cross to bear and trump the Dems at their own game - i.e. dump the Base (extreme right) of the Republican party - then most folks WITH AN OPEN MIND would take a new look at the new Republican party. I was one once too - long time ago when I was in the military and there was a Republican POTUS.
Like you could really care about keeping an open mind - doubt it!
