Real good to see you back Mulder, and nice to see you and GB in the same thread, on the same page again! I wonder where you get your long lasting energy from tho, Mulder, trying to educate (wake up to reality) some of these folks is a never ending, thankless task...anyway..
.good to see you again! | Mulder can go all night--just ask any woman!!! (I suspect Thingamaslug will be along to accuse me of sexual harrassment in the typical liberal way! )
Nice to see you again paisan--I don't post as much with the intent to educate as I do the chance to infuriate! These liberals just can't stand it when you point out the obvious--i.e., that they lack the ability to reason their way out of a fiscal paper bag!!!

#17 | In my opinion it's neither the republicans or democrats that are responsible for this economic crisis but both of them and the banks.
At any time either party could have legislated and curbed the wild practices of the banks. Bill Clinton had 8 years and George W Bush had 8 years to do something. The banks could have done some reining in themselves, but no one did anything. It was just a matter of time until they failed.
Once they failed the whole economy fell, because who controls monitary matters--the banks. It was not just American banks but many European ones as well.
How much you want to bet that all countries will pass legislation to control just what banks can and cannot do after this is over

How much you want to bet that all countries will pass legislation to control just what banks can and cannot do after this is over | You need to educate yourself--the Clinton Administration forced the banks into making risky loans (not that there werent' plenty of greedy bankers ready to oblige) and the Democrats blocked attempts by the Bush Administration to regulate it--go back and watch the Youtube video I linked to. This is clearly in the hand of Democrats--the evidence is overwhelming--only moore-ons can't (or refuse) to acknowledge it. Not saying there isn't some blame for complacency, but this one is another in the long line of social engingeering failures that liberals are constantly pushing down the throats of hard working Americans. In this country, hard work and success has been made synonymous with greed and evil while poverty and slovenly behavior has been made noble (that is basically the DNC platform in a nutshell)--it would really be humorous if it hadn't resulted in the loss of so much wealth by so many people that had really worked hard for it. But then liberals love that--anytime anyone who is successful is knocked down a few notches you have liberals cheering in the streets.

it only passed because republicans in committee caved into democratic demands to increase the redlining provisions
so a reasonable question is....why were conservatives so desperate to dismantle glass-steagall?
my guess is that they were in bed with the financial sector
as you said earlier, a greedy bunch.
