White House close to deal with hospitals on cost cuts

WASHINGTON — The hospital industry is close to a deal with the White House and congressional Democrats in which the industry would agree to federal funding cuts of $150 billion to $170 billion over the next decade to help pay for a health system overhaul, according to people familiar with the talks.

The deal, which isn't final, could be announced within days. A critical feature is an agreement on phasing in the Medicare and Medicaid cuts.

Homeland Security chief visiting Pakistan, meeting with leaders

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) — U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, on a visit to Pakistan, discussed with Pakistani leaders the fight against terrorism, as well as how the two countries share information, she said Friday.

"The key concept is, you just can't start protecting the homeland at the borders of the United States," she said.

ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) – He looks like President Barack Obama, speaks like him, and even gestures like him, but he is not exactly the President of the United States.

This president is an audio-animatronic Obama surrounded by the 43 other U.S. presidents at Walt Disney World's newly re-vamped Hall of Presidents in Orlando, Florida.

Disney gathered a team of what they call "Imagineers," each trained in various disciplines such as artistry, design and engineering, to update the attraction that has been around since 1971.

I think history of a sort is being made !.
President Obama may be the first U.S. President in years to oppose right-wing coups !.
Honduras military just kidnapped the President at gunpoint in middle of night , and we had nothing to do with it ! Amazing Even more surprising is we appear not to support this stuff anymore . Pretty much the whole world condemns this coup.
Hopefully ,Honduras will cease acting like a banana republic , cease pulling Presidents out of bed at gunpoint . Old habits are hard to break though.

Then Israel needs to get rid of it's nuclear weapons. I don't think they will, of course; but one can hardly blame Iran for wanting a nuclear weapon after what happened to Saddam who didn't have one.

I wonder if this is the game plan. Another 50 years of cold war--this time with Islam. We do need an enemy, you know. The economy really would go down the drain if we weren't building weapons that so quickly become obsolete.
