Senate panel approves climate change bill despite GOP boycott
Posted: November 5th, 2009 02:03 PM ET

A climate change billl co-authored by Sens. Boxer and Kerry was approved by a Senate committee Thursday despite a Republican boycott of the committee's hearings.
Washington (CNN) - A Senate committee Thursday approved a major climate change bill despite a boycott by all of the panel's seven Republican members.

Democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted 10-1 to send the measure to the full chamber. Because of the Republican boycott of the committee hearing that began Tuesday, the panel was unable to amend the bill.

Sen. Barbara Boxer of California, the committee chairman, noted the panel has held dozens of hearings on the issue and compiled more than 300,000 pages of analysis, and that she had taken the unprecedented step of scheduling a session with EPA experts to answer any questions by committee members. However, the Republicans skipped the EPA briefing on Tuesday afternoon..Obstructionists.

Huffpost - Obama To Native Americans: "You Will Not Be Forgotten"
BEN FELLER | 11/ 5/09 05:32 PM | AP

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama assured American Indians on Thursday that they have a place in his White House and on his agenda, telling tribal leaders their marginalized community deserves more from its government.

"I get it. I'm on your side," Obama told the largest gathering of tribal leaders in U.S. history.

Obama devoted part of his own time Thursday and even more of his administration's attention toward renewing relations with American Indians. He opened a conference that drew leaders from 386 tribal nations – the first meeting of its kind in 15 years – and he ordered every Cabinet agency to take more steps toward more cooperation.

Obama, House Dems confident on health care vote
I'm hoping and praying for passage.
ERICA WERNER and RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR | November 5, 2009 06:18 PM EST | AP
Associated Press writers David Espo, Laurie Kellman and Alan Fram contributed to this report.

WASHINGTON — Buoyed by two major endorsements, House Democratic leaders on Thursday predicted swift passage of President Barack Obama's historic health overhaul initiative. The president himself declared, "We are closer to passing this reform than ever before."

With a vote set for Saturday, momentum gathered behind the sweeping legislation to remake the U.S. health care system and extend coverage to millions of the uninsured. The American Medical Association and the powerful seniors' lobby AARP both threw their weight behind the bill Thursday. AARP, with its 40 million members, promised to run ads and contact activists to gin up support.

"I urge Congress to listen to AARP, listen to the AMA, and pass this reform for hundreds of millions of Americans who will benefit from it," Obama told reporters during an unannounced visit to the White House briefing room after the endorsements were announced.

"We are right on the brink," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "We have an historic opportunity for us to again provide quality health care for all Americans. It is something that many of us have worked our whole political lifetimes on."

I noticed that. I was amazed he would speak for a bit before addressing the shootings. You notice his good buddy the teleprompter was not there. Maybe that explains the gaff. And oh yeah it was a gaff. The first thing out of this narcissists mouth should have been about the shootings in Ft. Hood but nah.. We have business to take care of first

How flipping disrespectful can you get

I don't know, but I'm sure B.O. will continue to show you

and now it comes out that Joe Medicine Crow, whom B.O. had to give a shout out to, isn't a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, he's a Presidential Medal of Freedom winner - where was that dang teleprompter

The "shoutee" had BEEN AWARDED the Presidential Medal of Freedom not the Congressional Medal of Honor.
You don't "win" such an award anyway.

It is not appropriate. When you are offering condolences , you don't start with mindless banter.

Inappropriate, and disgusting.
