Very true. Labels and classifications are necessary. We just need to exercise caution when applying discrete labels in a continuum - the extreme case being human.

Noam Chomsky? If so, drag him in here!

When does a fetus get a soul?

2+2=11 and I challenge anyone here to prove me wrong.

Walks through the door and gets immediately mauled by labels, having to peel several off before speaking

I'll take a succinct try at this.

If we consider what is said in 1John 2:2 to be true, that Christ's sacrifice is sufficient for the sins of the world...in its entirety, then we can presume that includes children as well, yes?

Moreso, should we take a look at the character of God...one of love, then we can also suggest that those unable to place their lives in Jesus' hands through conscious decision would be covered in that love.

TBH, and to my knowledge, there is no direct scripture that speaks to this. So all I can do is apply what I know about the character of God to the situation and see if it fits. I believe it does.

There is no contradiction. I said absolute truth can't be proved absolutely and you said it must be proved absolutely to be absolute truth. You are saying it must be (conditional) while I am saying it can't be (conclusive).

We are all amateurs here.

Why do you assume I need to "expand" my metaphor? I like it just the way it is. Metaphors are of the Dialectic. The Dialectic came before the Logos. I guess you never saw that thread...

Uh, what unresolved conflict? What conflict, even?

*takes that challenge*

Base4 has integers: 0, 1, 2, 3

the place holders being: 1's, 4, 4 and 4^2

Since there are no groups of 1's and one group of 4's, that gets written as: 10, or otherwise expressed as: 2+2=10

Careful ..... some of those labels are lick-and-stick.

Awesome post.

Bah, but you are making little sense.

I am counting Valis' apples, "1, 2, 10, 11". There are 11 apples!

In other words, ignorance is bliss.

Beating around the Zen bush again are we? Set it on fire as Buff suggests. It's the soul that goes to heaven which implies that you need to have one!
