I don't oppose medicare. I oppose the government running health insurance for all.

That is all.

If the government runs health insurance the same way they run the post office, we're ALL up crap creek without a paddle.

I think health insurance needs to remain a private industry, and the government should assist those who need it with medicare.

So what do you think will happen to the airlines, FedEx, UPS, etc. when tele-transporters become a reality?? Being a little facetious, but do you think just maybe the USPS has a little bit too much competition from fax, Email, EFT's, etc? Kinda like GM and foreign cars, and AT&T land line business going down hill? It's not totally governments fault for the dire straits the USPS is in - it's because we have chosen other venues to communicate. When the USPS ceases to exist (which it won't) or cuts back service to 2-3 times a week and again raises rates, you'll be in the lead group whining about it. Keep in mind, if it was such a profitable business, you can bet your bippy UPS or FedEx or some other private enterprise would have jumped on it a long time ago - trust me, Uncle Sam would drop the USPS faster than you can say "I wet my pants"! If and when they do, the instances of people pilfering mail, prying into your private affairs, stealing packages, will make you long for the dysfunctional, poorly managed and cheap USPS.

LAN,

Please take a good look at your logic, i.e. "If the government runs health insurance the same way they run the post office", where you associate the skills and abilities of doctors, nurses, and hospital administrators with that of postal carries, sorters, middle management. Are you claiming that postal service employees can handle health care in any way shape or form by that statement? Now, if your postal carrier is delivering your mail and you happen to have a heart attack and he gives you an aspirin to swallow and gives you emergency CPR care - won't you feel silly?

As always, the assumptions you put in front of your musings (I am being kind to you LAN), are what makes what you say flatulent at times!

A single payer is not equivalent to running health care for all - it is simply paying for all. And, the private industry that is the health insurance and hospital administrations and doctors playing/scamming the system (which dupes unknowledgable folks like yourself into believing that your health care is as good as it gets) - they are the ones you need to vent about, since they are the ones whom have driven up the cost of health care for us all, while a single payer system will help to decrease the costs for all of us, and maintain a higher level of care through reform of the health system.

--Do you really think our health care is not as good as it gets? I'm not talking about how it's paid for or the administration you need to deal with. I'm talking about the actual care we receive from doctors and nurses. If it's not the best, which country has the best?

--Do you really think our high costs of health care reside completely in doctors scamming the system? Don't we need to account for our poor health when we compare costs to other countries? I never see cost comparisons factor in our extremely high obesity rate (and as a result diabetes and other illnesses). What about the high cost of malpractice insurance? Finally, how does a single payer prevent the doctors from scamming the system?

Tom, The government is the most inefficient business runner ever created by man.
Do you really want to hand over something that important to a known poor efficency entity, like the US government?

1. because abortion is murder. Do you not support the laws and enforcement with regard to murder in this country? If you do, then you can better understand my position on the matter.

Human life deserving of protection against being murdered

2. I support medicare, which does provide for prenatal care, birthing, etc.
I do not support the government mandating a government run healthcare system across the board, taking over the insurance industry, turing hundreds of thousands of private sector jobs into government jobs.

Therefore, I reject the premise of your questioning right off the bat.

The Strange Case of Mel Zelaya and David Romero Ellner

Honduras had a problem. Their president, Mel Zelaya, was a Marxist Castro-wannabe who was violating the Constitution in order to remain in power indefinitely. So, the legislature, working within the Constitution, voted to have him removed, and the Supreme Court of Honduras ordered the army to carry out the elected legislature's order.

This did not sit well with the Marxist dictators of Venezuela, Cuba and Bolivia. Fortunately for them, the recently elected president of the USA is also a Marxist, and he eagerly put the power of US diplomacy behind reinstalling the wannabe-dictator against the desires of the legally elected government of Honduras. The Marxist-American president even barred the constitutionally-installed leader of Honduras from coming to the USA when the UN was convened, while rolling out the welcome mat for the dictator of Iran who had murdered people in the streets just a few months earlier.

That Mel Zelaya is a nutjob who has claimed that the Jews are sickening him with secret Jew radiation beams and secret Jew gases has done nothing to diminish Obama's ardor for his comrade. The administration has announced they will reject the outcome of Honduran elections scheduled for November 29.

David Romero Ellner is Zelaya's most loyal propagandist, broadcasting from Honduras's Radio Globo. He's basically the Ed Schultz of Honduras, and the American MSM love him. His journalistic credentials are impeccable. He began his career as an activist with the Communist party. He co-founded the People's Revolutionary Union, a terrorist group that has hijacked airliners, attacked American troops, and took an American oil executive as a hostage.

He also has expressed the kind of biting, cutting edge opinion of the type that makes him the darling of progressives everywhere.

Quote:
There are times when I ask myself if Hitler was or not correct in finishing with that race with the famous Holocaust. If there are people that do damage in this country, they are Jewish, the Israelis. I want to name, this afternoon here in Radio Globo, by name and last name, who are the two officers of the Jewish army who are working with the Armed Forces of our country and who are in charge of carrying out all these conspiracy activities and undercover actions and everything else that is happening to the President of the Republic.
"After what I have learned, I ask myself why, why didn't we let Hitler carry out his historic mission. Forgive me for the grotesque expression. But I ask myself after I have realized this and many other things. I believe it should have been fair and valid to let Hitler finish his historic vision..."

Zelaya's cheerleader, ladies and gentlemen. And remember, the same people who support this guy think Glenn Beck is a dangerous whackjob.

BTW: Romero is also known to have molested and raped his own daughter; so he can count on the support of the Roman Polanski/Woodsy Allen crowd. (Progressives are such lovely people.)

These are the people B. Hussein Obama has decided to put the full weight of American diplomacy behind.

Hi LAN,

So you say. On the contrary, you never post anything to back up your claims - you rely on old chestnut myths about this and most every other issue on which you post your right-wing agenda misinformation.

You're joking, right?

Are you claiming that government has fiscal efficiency anywhere close to that of private business?????

Surely you're not making such a claim.

Oh .... and Zelaya is a Communist, and tried to install himself as the permanent leader of Honduras, (AGAINS THE RULES OF THEIR CONSTITUTION) not unlike Chavez has done in Venezuela.

i don't about the communist part...but he is definitely a "populist" (as in popular among his people)

as to the installation thing you keep bringing up, LAN....you need to pick a source that understands the truth of the situation....i already posted to it (in response to this allegation of yours....don't remember where)

but your sources are spreading rumors.

Are you claiming that private business has greater fiscal efficiency anywhere close to that of the Federal government? Private business are more prone to keep two sets of books, while the Fed. government may only on occasion buy a $600 toilet seat.

You don't what? Know? Care? think?

Zelaya tried to usurp their Congress and Constitution to install himself as permanent President.

In English? .... D I C T A T O R

That would be like Bush changing our Constitution during his 2nd term to end Presidential term limits. I'm sure you would have been all for that action, yes?
