If we the people voted out every elected official in Washington DC would we be worse off?

Well its a good dream.
Someone has to take care of the show though.
Something needs to be done about lobbying,it has become very corrupt and has wandered way from its original intent

I think worse off. Not all elected are corrupt or incompetent. Governments are similar to corporations in that you need experience and the knowledge of the ins and outs to make it work. If you fired every manager above the level of shop foreman in any company it would tank before the end of the fiscal year.

Well said and I agree wholeheartedly. Why bother voting if your representative is going to ignore you and listen to the lobbyists?

You make a point I bring up in discussions often with other folks about what a REPRESENTATIVE's job is. Isn't the root word "REPRESENT"?

I have to agree things would get worse before they got better, but then again, not all congress-persons are on the same re-election schedule. I've said many times that politicians should be changed as often as diapers, and for the same reason.

Well said. One of the arguments for keeping those professional politicians is because of their experience. Look where that got us...

I think we would be a LOT better off honestly if people didn't just vote for someone because of the D or R in front of someones name on the ballot..

Neko, anyone who truly votes D or R, without every looking into what the person wearing that tag really stands for or against, is a part of our problem.

I've pointed out to my fellow Soldiers numberous times, that no one (that I have met yet) truly supports 100% of their claimed party's agenda. Both sides of the spectrum have pros and cons.

IMO, the last few elections have turned into voting for the lesser of 2 evils. And util a 3rd party emerges that can really gather support for the middle ground, we are going to be stuck in this rut.

My dad told me once a long time ago that nothing good cam come of haveing the whole thing run by just one side (Pres, House, and Senate dominated by 1 party). This gets one agenda shoved down everyone's throat without any check or balance. Seems the years have (IMHO) proved him right.

brett.. yes, but our show is no longer run for our benefit...so who needs them?
let us get rid of these career polititions.
the supreme court says, lobbying is "free speech"...i do not understand how they can allow the will of the minority to circumvent the wishes of the masses.

We will never get rid of career politicians, or those who desire to be one .
The only thing we can do is replace one with another ------or not .
So , the only we can we can hope for is if one is removed , they are not replaced by one even worse ! .
Its the same as always --nothing new -- just pick your poison .
The old "vote em all out" is BS , always was . >f

pyritechips... yes, but the in and outs of washington are there to benefit the incumbent politition.
a manager who is only there for the benefit of himself will not last long. he must contribute to the shareholder and the company, which are us.

fidelista....it can only get worse under the current circumstances...the present group is not going to change....so, we must change them...we have the option of the second ammedment...or we can sit around and wait for comrade hu to have enough understanding of capitalism to know a bad investment when he sees one.
