Ultimately, yes. Religion, historically, has adapted, or
evolved 
, to embrace proven scientific discoveries that would otherwise obliterate it. The earth being at the center of the universe is a well-known example. For the longest time this theory was dismissed because the faithful couldn't reconcile that idea with their inerrant Bible. But you can only hold out so long in the face of overwhelming physical evidence, and the religion either adapts or sinks.
It's happening right now with evolution, it's just not pervasive amongst the faithful yet. Many faithful scientists believe that evolution was just a tool used by God. Others flat-out deny that it happened. Eventually, evolution will either have to be debunked (which doesn't look likely, at all) or religion will have to incorporate it in order to remain relevant.
Building a museum based on the idea that the Earth is 6,000 years old and that every word of the Bible is literally true doesn't leave much room for adaptation. Plenty of room for embarrassment, though.
