I did save it earlier. I would just like to know what I can do to fix it. I still have the original disk, shall I reinstall, you think?

I'd first try a re-boot and see if that clears the problem.

I thought the poster was trying to save a file that was opened and had not been saved. If that's the case, then a reboot will definitely cause the file to be lost.

If this is a problem with all new files or the current file no longer needs to be saved, then obviously reboot.

It is the problem, I had saved awhile back, then added more images. Then it wouldn't save, but I rebooted anyway, and went back to an earlier version, cut and pasted a few images, then I got an error message about memory being too low to close some program,s but I only have google chrome open with my gmail, this forum and the image program. I am trying to find out how much ram it's taking and what I can do now about it? Thanks for your help so far.

It would appear the program simply cannot handle a large file. You'll need to either only work with smaller files or find a different application to work with large files.

Will the file save again if you don't add more/new images?

How big is the file?

Hi, I am convinced that the size I had it was way too big. Now I've made it smaller, and so far, no problems. Eventually, I will need to make the jpeg 27"X20" at 300 dpi, so I think I'll do that in paint shop pro. Any thoughts on that?

Is this going to be a 27x20" Print ??
If not, Does the DPI have to be that big and does it have to be a png ???
The only reason I use pngs is if they need transparency.

Hello again, yes it has to be those dimensions. 27X20 and 300 dpi, it can be a jpeg too.

I've been using Photoshop today and saving as a png .. Because we need transparency.
It takes a really long time to make a png as compared to a jpg ....
which makes me think it really has to work at it and that might be a part of your problem.

As long as you only make a jpg once .. (the last thing you do to it) ..
I'd think a jpg without compression would make just as good of a print as png.

To save as a jpg .. then open > edit and save again .. etc ... starts to turn the picture into a rumor of the original.

Hi, thank you. My problem is I am working with maybe 30 images within a collage, moving them around and finalizing the design. I can't save it and work on it again later if I save it as a jpeg as the ability to move things around, stops when saved as a jpeg, it really means that once I start a collage, I have to finish it or leave my PC on all night until I finish it the next day. When I am done, I can certainly save it as a jpeg then. I actually made it smaller, like 10X8 and it's working again.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not familiar with Picture It .. But I'd think it could (should) be able to save the project in an uncompressed format so it could be saved .. opened and worked on again .. Before saving the final project.

As soon as you get this Project done .. Maybe you should think about using better software to make your living with.
Shadow Highlight ... Content Aware .. Collages
