Question sony handycam dcr dvd650 software for windows 7
I have a sony handycam dcr dvd650 that is a few years old , the software that we have is for windows xp/ windows vista . The computer that i want to download and burn dvd's on runs windows 7 . Any thoughts on where to get new software for this system? I have searched online for free software with no luck. The Windows 7 program is the one that was factory installed on computer.

Just by plugging video camera into usb port recognizes the pics that were taken with camera feature, but does not recognize any video that was shot.

I assume that I will need the software disc for the windows 7 system, or download the file. Any ideas where i can find this for free or at low cost?

Thank you for any or all thoughts on this matter !

You should not need any more Software ????
You should be able to Copy the DVD video files to a folder in your computer ...
Or if connected USB .. Find the Sony in "Computer" and copy the video files to a folder in your Computer.
Then you should be able to open the videos in Windows Live Movie Maker ..
and make (burn) DVDs using Windows DVD Maker.

I can't find the online manual for your Sony ... It's different than my Sony DCR-SX63 ???
There is some Sony Software for editing ... But you should not need it.
And welcome to the TSG forum

Nice of BH Photo to provide this link. They send me a 500 page A-V catalog every year and all I ever bought was a cheapo Canon camera.

Seems like an memory stick reader would give direct access to the video files. Are they in DVD format too?

Thanks ... I found the manual .. And I think the Sony software for W7.
But dglaz300x5 should be able to run the camera and get the videos without the Sony software ... I only use it for special editing (trimming) on my W7 computer.
I was waiting on dglaz300x5 to check back.
