Solved: Scanner and camera wizard
I just replaced my PC. I used to go into the scanner and camera wizard and when I got to the screen "Picture Name and Destination" when I changed the name for this goup of pictures, the place to save appended the current folder with a folder of the file name. Now it does not. I tried another scanner and it didn't work either.

Any help is appreciated

Operating system?
Scanner model?

They may not be compatible, hence the questions.

Please remember to include at least the relevant basic details when asking for help.
Thank you

As said above:
New pc
Scanner and camera wizard (found in xp, not available in vista or 7)
Enter scanner and camera wizard.
Go to screen "picture name and destination"
Change name and destination
Use to append file name
Now it does not.
Failed on multiple scanners.

Answer: use the drop down box and choose the folder with the file name. All future scanned will default to folder/username

Thank you.
