This is a 2 part question.
I have a large number of archive photos I have scanned. I would like to put them on a cd with a slideshow viewer and also have the option of viewing the thumbnails.

Part 1: I have downloaded irfanview which seems to do the job but does not have a control panel that is accesible while the slideshow is playing. Is this the best free viewer/product to use.

Part 2: I want to add a comment to each image in the form of a rollover or text over lay. Is there a product that can attach either of these to the image itself.

Bumping this thread for you. I have used ACDSee in the past for slide shows, but you have to buy that. No sure about the text part, though.
