Quick Question about Disableing a Photo Image Program
I installed the FRONTPAGE 2003 Beta.... and it brought along with it a photo imaging/viewing program....(Microsoft Picture Library11 beta) that is not allowing my email recipients to download a photo I send. .... (MGI Photosuite) is what I have always used. This new program has reset all my photos to it.

Where do I go to make the DEFAULT photo program the MGI Photo Suite? I am not certain that the Frontpage doesn't use it during the web-page processes. ...and I don't mind using it for that..... But I do not want it to be the default. I have searched for it in the program files... not there ... may be embedded in Frontpage.

¿?Any ideas?¿

Thanks

Try this

open explorer and navigate to a jpg file highlite it then hold the shift key down while you right click...point to open with in then select Choose Program...in the open with window highlite MGI and put a dot in the box always use the selected program to open this kind of file and click OK

You can do the same thing for your other image file types

not sure how that will effect Picture Library and it's interaction with Frontpage beta but it should set your images back to opening with MGI

Hmmmm. NOW a jpg won't open at all. the program has changed all the photo icons to it own icon... as if all the photos were CREATED in that program....

This is a BETA..... so go figure.... I will try to contact MS and let them know that this is a BUG in the program...they deny support services with the BETAs... and don't know WHY they do that... because the customer feedback is valuable . I think they 'shoot themselves in the foot'.. I know it makes them busy with the questions. BUT ... customer usage & feedback is the best testing of the product. Oh Well,,,, who am I to say now?

have any more ideas I can try?

This works with Wme, and there ought to be similar arrangements in other versions of Windows.

Go to Settings > Control Panel > Folder Options. Select the File Types tab. Scroll to the JPEG and/or Jpg and select it. Below the window is "opens with" and the name of the program that has been set to open all files of that type. Click the CHANGE button next to the name. You will get a menu of available programs. Select MGI Photo Suite (if it is in the list). Otherwise, click the OTHER button, and browse for MGI.

Click the OK button after selecting MGI.

I hope this helps --- 911

..you could also use irfanview to open the files, and change the dot extension to whatever dot extension you choose, [irfanview is compatable with more extensions than any other viewing program i know of],

hope this helped,
have a good day,
