Looking for good photo printing software
Hello folks,

Before I upgraded to XP, I had a photo printing program that came bundled with my HP ink jet that was very useful. The program was authored by HP. It was great for printing family photos and the like. I could print wallet-sized prints, 3"X 5"s, 4"X6"s, or whatever. It could print 4 3"X 5" prints per page so as to save photo paper. This program had some editing capabilities like crop, contrast, brightness, etc. However, this printing program only works with WinME.

Any know of a program like the HP one? I am comfortable with Photoshop, so the editing capabilities are not that big a deal.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

If you are comfortable with Photoshop you are going to open the images in it and crop and tweak them. Why not just leave 4 open at a time, make a new file 8 ½ X 11 inches and drag the sized images into the new file? It is faster and more convenient than saving the images and opening them again in another program just for printing. I can’t ever remember printing an image on photo paper without taking it through Photoshop anyway.

4 X 5.33 is the correct ratio for digital images and 4 will fit on a sheet of photo paper if you have a photo printer that doesn’t require margins. If you need margins, make your Photoshop file just the size of the area the printer will print to.

Hello Slipe,

thanks for the reply.

Although I am familiar with Photoshop, the wife and kids are not. I need something that is a little earier to use. I can do all the heavy manipulation, if required.

I considered trying to teach the wife and kids about how to do it all in Photoshop, but I feel that I would be wasting my time if a simpler product was available.

Hi chall, HERE is a freeware image program that will give you print control, after you click print, a dialog box will pop up with several printing options, the drawback is it will only print one file at a time, so no mixing different shots on a page, it does have some nice features though, including resize and removal of red eye, might be worth a look...Rhett

Uhmmm
Just a suggestion, but the XP Photo printing capabilites, I find, are fairly good
Just right click, choose open with Windows Picture and Fax viewer, then choose print and it opens the window that takes you through all the different options for sizes, quantities etc. It sounds as though the HP one you had is very similar.

regards
