Is it the drivers for USB or for the camera itself. Most cameras now days show up as a removable hard drive in Windows Explorer.

what happens if you uninstall the drivers for the camera then with the camera off, hook up the USB cable, then turn the camera on...is it recognized as new hardware and ask for the install CD which should have the drivers on it

I'll ask again just because I need the practice typing...If you uninstall everything to do with the camera then plug the USB connector in and turn the camera on does the computer recognize the camera as a new piece of hardware or not

how about trying it in another computer

I'm having a very similar problem - has this been resolved. I'd love to hear the solution.

Thanks!

I am having a similar problem with an Epson 1260 scanner.
Windows98. Scanner was working fine for months. Then would not work. Talked to Epson, tried a bunch of things. No luck. Works on another computer though with same software and cable. Suspect USB problem but not sure. After removing software and disconecting scanner and reloadinf software, when I connect scanner, Windows cycles between two screens "unkown device found, looking for software" and "New hardware found, windows is installing software". It cycles between these two screens for six minutes then nothing. It puts about 50 entries with yellow exclamation marks under unknown hardware in the device manager.

HELP!!!!
