Question AVI to Mpeg conversion
Help!!............I am trying to encode VCD's using TMPGenc 12a. Some avi files after conversion to mpeg1 have no sound, the picture comes through OK. This has not happened on all files but to many to make me have to ask for advice as i cant crack the problem. I am converting to PAL 4:3 and setting the conversion in the "template" page of the programme. Any advice would be most welcome as the process takes ages and needs alot of memory.

Thanks in advance

If I recall, with tmpgenc you have to separate audio and video files so when importing they are sourced from different origins.

BTW Nero will convert avi to mpeg1 easily.

U say "some" avi's convert with no sound. Have u investigated the codecs used to encode the avi in the first place ?

If not get "Gspot" from www.dvd.box.sk and use it to analyse your avi's.

You might find that the files that wont convert with sound are all ac3 audio or ogg vorbis. As opposed to the working ones which probably have mp3 soundtracks.

At the very least Gspot might give u some hints
