digital dictation using wav files
I work in a hospital and we use digital voice recorders that use flash cards and record voice files to wav files. I am having a problem with the program we use to download wav files to a folder so we can transcribe them. The wav files are being converted into iaf files and the program cannot read some of them. Is there any way we can recover the original file off the flash card (we have data recall)? When we try to recover the data it is still in the iaf file format when using the data recall. The program that we use to download the wav file does compress the file and convert to a iaf file but is there any way we can convert it back into a wav file?

How do you connect the flash card to the computer? If you have an external reader that plugs in via a USB port, you should be able to see the card like an external harddrive. If that is the case, you could use Windows Explorer to just drag and drop the files from the flash card onto your hard disk. This should retain the .WAV file format. I do this with my digital camera instead of importing to the PC from the camera with the software provided by the company.

Hope that Helps...

We download the files to the computer via a SanDisk. We plug the card into the SanDisc and open the program (used for the transcription) and find the file on the flash card via the removable disk file. Once the file is downloaded it is not on the flash card and when we use the data recall on the flash card the file is coming up as a CA 100..... file. There can be as many as 3 to 6 files on the card.

I have a reader for mine. You can get them from Best Buy or your local electronics store for $20 and up. Plug the card into it and then plug it into the computer. Open Explorer and it shows a "Removable Drive" added to the list of hard disks. I just open that up and copy and paste.

Sorry, I don't know about your software...

Thanks, I think this inexpensive reader just might be the next step.
