Angry emailing jpegs from Mac to PC's
I've been encountering a problem sending digital photos from my mac to people operating pc's. I have a Mac G3 OSX, and use iphoto to catologue my photos. The problem i have is when I attach my photos in my email (AOL) as jpegs everyone tells me they can't open them. They all then request i send jpegs. (which is what they are to begin with). I thought i had solved the problem by not compressing the files in iphoto. iphoto apparently creates zip files which i am told microsoft apps are not equipped w/ unzip software. However when i've sent them as single jpeg files they still cannot be opened. Is the problem on my end or theirs. please help!!

Welcome to TSG.

You are obviously as ignorant of PCs as I am of Macs – like another world. But I assure you people with PCs use zip files just fine. Jpg files won’t compress when you zip them as they are already as compressed as much as possible, so it is an exercise in futility to zip them.

AOL is also another world, but I don’t think that is the problem. I think there are too many fingers in the pie.

Get the unzipped jpg files you want to send by themselves in a folder on the hard drive. Attach them from that folder as FILES (not images) and they will likely be OK.
