Posting images on forums
I don't know if this is the right place for this or not. But I participate in a forum in which some of the posters post cartoons and other images. I want to find out how they do that. Can anyone help me? grandpaw7

TSG lets you attach images from your computer. They show up as links on your post. You can edit the post and have the image show onscreen with your post.

Most sites do not allow you to upload the image to their site as TSG does. You have to put the image on a storage site that allows direct linking. You copy the URL from the site and put after it.

Thanks to Vanner and Slipe
Unfortunately, I am like a second grader who walked in on a college science class. In case you're willing to walk a little further with me, and I understand if you have other things to do than teach second grade: the site is www.actionforum.com. There are only a couple of posters that have posted images (political cartoons take from the web), and there have been comments that this gets done by using html. That's something I plan to get into in my next life when I hopefully have an updated brain. Perhaps you could tell me if indeed the poster putting those cartoons in his post is using his knowledge of html or if there is some simpler explanation.

If they are using html...the image must be already uploaded to the net somewhere...then this should be the code needed to display it...

<img src="paste the web address here">

can you post a link to a thread with one of images so I don't have to search that whole site

Hope this helps a little, I did it for another forum that i'm on, so you'll have to
bear that in mind. It's basically the same as here though....

Firstly you need a 'Picture Host', which is simply somewhere to upload and
store your Pics on the Internet. I use 'Image-Event' but quite a few here use
'Photobox.co.uk' There are a fair few out there.

The easiest way to find one is right click on someones picture and look at
the Url, that will give you an idea of where they store theirs. If it works for
them it will work for you !!

When you have your pictures uploaded to your 'Host'. Open the pic you want to use and right
click on it. Go into properties and a window will open with the details of the pic.

Looks like this:-

You need to highlight and copy to the clipboard the 'Address URL'
(the http// bit).

When making your post on the forum, Click the 'Image' tag and
paste your copied 'Address URL' after [img] you then 'Close tags'
which should look like this !!

When you've done all that you should get your piccie. Clear as mud innit ??

Gosh, thanks for going to the trouble. I just got your replies and will see how they work for me and get back to you. By the way, I didn't get the name of that girl on the left; there's just something about her; actually a couple of things.

Vanner, I'll try this procedure out before I put you to the trouble of looking at one of the images on the website I use. Thanks all.

It will all depend on how they allow images to be displayed

just post a link to a thread with an image in it

Bad forum software
Well, the software this forum uses is notoriously bad in a number ways. I find now another one of those ways: it doesn't have any of the buttons like TSG does, such as img.

You can see one of the images at http://www.actionforum.com/forum/ind...l?forum_id=223
It's a page that contains several posts, but the first one has an image.

I'd appreciate your comments.

By the way, I did get image event and got a photo to my album. Whatever the outcome, i'm glad to have that available.

Thanks, grandpaw7

Wrong URL
Oop, I gave you the wront URL. I should have said http://www.actionforum.com/forum/ind...omment_number=
The first URL is also a forum page, but the post with the image is at the end of the page.

A little Iraqi boy. I wish I could take care of him.

Buck, did I get that right? In the post, I put
img src=http://photos.imageevent.com/grandpaw7/httpwwwimageeventcomgrandpaw7/icons/boyseyes.jpg
but instead of the image I just get the wording I posted. Is that forum software just too deficient to post the image this way?

If you want to post that same image at that forum it needs to look like this... including the quotation marks and the < and >

<img src="http://photos.imageevent.com/grandpaw7/httpwwwimageeventcomgrandpaw7/icons/boyseyes.jpg">

Aw,man, it worked!!!
Thanks, buck. Might as well see if I can stretch my luck: how do folks mange to display a photo or other image in a real large size? Also, Buck, I notice that birthdays are not applicable to you; how did you manage that? Thanks, grandpaw7
