Kodak CX4230
I have this camera, and I enjoy it....but recently, the battery door cracked, and so it won't stay closed. I brought it into a camera shop for repair, and the first thing the guy asked me is if I was a lefty....which I am. He said it was common with lefties to crack these doors, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any left-handed digital cameras around. Anyway, he said it would probably cost as much as the camera did to replace the door. It would have to be sent out and would take 6 to 8 weeks. He said he would tape it and that would probably do the trick. Not pretty, but right now I'm not in a position to buy another camera. What I'm wondering is does anyone know if it might be a good idea to Crazy Glue it?? The tape really isn't holding well...door still opens just enough to lose power.

Thanks.

Do you intend to crazy glue the broken part or crazy glue it shut? Its plastic? Are those batteries rechargeable inside the camera or do you have to take them out? How long before you may purchase another?

I was just going to glue the broken part, but maybe I should stick with tape. The batteries are rechargable, but not while in the camera, so gluing the door shut won't work.

I spoke with Kodak today, and they have a trade-in offer for cameras whose warranties have run or are broken and not worth repairing. One of them sounds good to me, but probably not until after the new year. BTW....the warranty just ran out. No surprise, huh?
