Image TOO big for computer
.....There's a picture in my inbox.
......It is SOOOO huge that any attempt at viewing or saving it freezes my computer up.
...The person who sent it to me is a computer novice and didn't have any ideas how to resize his copy.---[his computer freezes upon trying this picture too.]
.....Is this picture a lost cause? Or is there some way to shrink it without opening or saving it?

......No can do......This jpg pic is soooo big that I would need a screen 4ft by 4ft to fit it.
I have a smaller sample pic that shows as a preview but no matter which action I try on that preview pic,
....Everything I try wants to handle the full sized image.

Once it's saved onto your desktop YOU can resize it though

It sounds like the picture is "embedded" rather than attached. In this case try this, I just tried it (using my Eudora email) and it worked:

highlight the email that has the picture in it (do not open it), now Save As and choose text (I chose text and saved to my desktop so I could find it easily).

When you open the txt file, it should reference the photo's name. Do a search on the hard drive for that picture. A copy of the pic turned up in my Email\Embedded folder of my email application.

When you find it, you should be able to open it up in a paint app and resize the little bugger!

Good luck.

...RE: MustBNuts
....antique machine and yahoo mail are all i have here.
..I have two options for saving this thing,
....as a html document or as an image file.
.......the html file thing::
None of my imaging programs can handle the file.
..... 3400x4400, 803k
...if I click to save the image, the instant i click that "save" button,.........poof!! computer throws a fit and freezes
....anyway to resize it as it is --[ a file attatched to an email] ?
...because any other way I know to resize it requires openinng it.
.....opening it causes my computer much strain-n-pain

Howdy unstresst

There were two pictures scanned into 1 anyway I sent them back to you.

I left them fairly big so you can make a decent print if you like..

If you need them even smaller let me know
