Angry minolta Z1 software blues
I just Bought a new digi camera Minolta Dimage Z1 for work. I am a fireman and in charge of public relations I take pics of fires and things for the local paper. It seems like a great camera with a nice zoom but I cant get it to interact with the computercan anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? There isn't any tech support phone number anywhere in the book.

That's a nice looking camera. Is it USB? Does it require software other than perhaps a driver for the connector?

Have you looked in control panel, hardware to see if anything is *bammed* out?

Do you have more than 1 USB port?

Any other hardware to test the USB port?

Welcome to TSG.

I take it you installed the drivers according to the instructions.

Right click on “Start” and select “Explore”. Scroll down in the left column and there should be a removable drive with a drive letter that wasn’t there before you installed the camera. Click on the drive and then on the folder containing the pictures.

To extract them, with the individual picture files showing in the right side – Edit>Select All. Then right click on any one of the highlighted image files and select “Copy”. Make a folder for them on the hard drive somewhere and Edit>Paste. The images will transfer from the camera to the folder. The new drive letter will only show when the camera is connected.

Wow thanks for the responce ok let me think I use widows 98 I do have a palm hooked up in the other USB port and I do NOT get a new drive that says removeable no new drive at all. I get a window on the camera that says initiation connection but it is suppose to go blank when it hooks up but it never does. Thanks again

Unless they have changed the software since I bought my D7i it is the Win98 drivers that came on the CD that connect the camera. The Dimage software is handy mostly for converting from raw.

If you have the Minolta Win98 drivers installed the only thing I can think of is to swap the camera into the USB port you know is working.
