Angry dat files and still images
I may have inadvertently converted still .jpg images to DAT files during the process of burning the images to a CD. Help. The cd now contains files in a DAT format (e.g. item001 DAT file)

Can I convert them back to viewable still images?

Howdy

Any chance you still have them on your hard drive and can just burn them again...or

have you tried converting one or all of them with something like Irfanview

Also just try re-naming one typing the .jpg extension on the end of the name.

No luck with simply renaming them with .jpg extension and they are the only files of these images that I have.

I've tried photo-paint 9 and an image software called Thumbs plus. Niether recognize it as an importable image format....error is not supportable or can't import using associated filters.

If I try to open the image using thumbs plus it executes the portion of the application that views mpegs or video data if that makes sense (it does if it thinks it's a dat file I guess)
