convert old camcorder tapes onto a DVD?
What's the best way to convert old camcorder tapes onto a DVD?
Does anybody know how to do this? And what program would I need?

If you are going to try to do this at home you need a way to capture the video - tv capture card would do the trick.

Once you have a capture card on your system, it will have coax cable in plug. Instead of plugging the cable tv in, plug a vcr into this, then, if you have cable, you can plug that into the vcr (just like you would connect all this to a real tv).

Then, depending on the type of camcorder tapes you have, you can either use the adapter (vhs-c) or connect the camera to your vcr (the same way you would in order to view the tapes on your tv).

While they are playing, you would just hit record. ATI tv cards now have settings to capture directly into VCD format (CD format compatible with dvd players).

If you have a dvd burner, then you'd just follow the dvd burner instructions to burn what you've captured.

More help at www.dvdrhelp.com for specifics once the tapes are capture.

That is the "general" overview of the process. Just post back for specifics. I'd offer them now but it really depends on what system/equipment you have.

Merry Christmas, and hope this helps,

MBN

Thanks MustBNuts. I'm asking for a friend. I my self don't have a DVD burner. I'm still on other missions I haven't completed yet.
So I don't want to start a new project yet.
You have a good Christmas also.
