Question Mpeg 1 & Mpeg 4 Question
Aloha,
I want to buy a video movie camera and was wondering about the Mpeg compression. If I bought the Mpeg 1, is there a program that will turn Mpeg 1 into another format or would it be best to get a Mpeg 4. The reason that I am asking is because of the price. TIA

Mahalo,

Mpeg 4 (or DivX) was a codec brought in to rival mpeg 2 in compression and quality. The analogue camcord for mpeg 1 will not record in as good a quality as Mpeg4. Mpeg editing is quite slow (in comparison to avi/dv), but DivX may be quicker. If you're recording in analogue you'll need a good capture card too (£150+). Here's some good all-round info : http://www.cspry.co.uk/links/video_digital_2.html http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
