OCR Question
Is it possible to run a picture that has already been scanned through an ocr. Here's the situation. We are beginning to make a chinese version of our website. For now we can scan a document into the site and leave it there as a jpeg. This can obviously lead to several issues. One being we can't edit the text, formatting becomes an issue as well as the size of the files. Now we are planning on purchasing a chinese ocr but the cost is currently prohibitive. Would it be possible to do it the a** backwards way for now and convert it later. Will it require something else to allow it to be converted or am I just screwed and am going to have to rescan everything at a later date.

As far as I know any OCR program will let you open an image file and OCR it. OmniPage and Abbyy do that.

Be sure to "proof-read" it carefully. OCR's are not perfect.

It would also be advisable to have it "proof-read" in Chinese before "publishing" it to your website. Litteral translations can be down-right ugly in terms of what is "really" meant by the English wording versus how it comes out in Chinese.

edit the Scanned Document.
Please forgive me if i did not do this right
I am trying to figure out where to post my question

I have a 1315 Hp All-In-One Printer and I have been trying for so long to get the darn gone thing to scan and then have it go to a place within my pc as to where I can edit the Scanned Document.

I was told by HP tech Support that I do have the OCR software installed but I can not scan a document and then be able to edit and print out the document that I just edited.

Forgiveness not needed.
HP's OCR will not let you Read an Image file ... Only the image from the scanner .. I think.
I also don't think It'll convert to a word Document.

It should create a (name).txt file from the scanner.
Is there a scan to text choice ??
