Buy a camera
I would like to get your advice on buying a digital camera.

I am an old "point and shoot' guy and do not need anything but the basics.

Want something reliable and easy to use.

Thanks...

Myself I use a Kodak DX 4900. Takes excellent photos and don't have to be a brain surgeon to use it. At work the guys use a Kodak DX3900 and a Kodak DX 4330 out in the field. I'm talking pipefitters and welders and they have no problem, just point and shoot.

MustBNuts, Those pipefitters and welders wanted something that was reliable and easy to use so that is why we went with the Kodak series. And they would probably kick my butt if they read this. *S*

Digitals cameras are great but have many issues to understand either before you buy or the hard way, afterward and complainng about them.

There is a lag from the time you click until the picture is taken. All vendors are working to solve or minimize this problem. Picture of the kids sports or any action and you will be frustrated without prior knowledge.

Many different formats for the cards where your pictures are saved. Some being phased out and others starting to show up. A mistake here can be another frustration.

What type of battery power does the camera use? I prefer AAs.
Some use an expensive rechargeable system.

How easy is it to get the pictures from the camera to the computer.

How many megapixals will satisfy my needs.

Most consumer cameras will have a point and shoot mode that will meet your needs. Most folks buy a digital camera with film camera ideas in mind. They learn more and are ready to buy another camera after a short time. About 3-4 months for me.

Enjoy your new camera.
