I would use MP3. You can compress it quite a bit and it still sounds good. Ever thought of putting them on DVD for storage purposes?

as in a DVD cd? I just don't want to burn if thats your question but i was wondering what is the smallest filetype that uses the least ammount of space because i have this program called all to mp3, mp3 to all converter and it does what the name says converts anything to mp3 and any mp3 to anything its quite good i just got the trial will be testing so i thought i might as well change everything to one file type before expiry date you know?

I'd stick with mp3's. There's not much to choose between mp3 and wma. An mp3 of the same song can be various sizes though. As Rockn said, you can compress or convert or decode an mp3 at different bitrates. The smaller the file size/ bitrate though, the more sound quality you loose. Your converter may allow you to convert at different compression levels/bitrates.
Mp3pro uses a smaller bitrate than standard mp3.
When it comes to music though, what's the point of having loads of mp3's, real small in size, that sound c**p?
Just to give you some idea of the size, I've got about half of my cd's converted to mp3's, 1283 of them and @128 bitrate, which is roughly 1 minute of music = 1mb file size, they take up 4.3GB.
You can go smaller you can go bigger, it's up to you.
