(Solved) Premiere problems...
I have adobe premiere 6.0 and I just purchaced a digital camcorder. After I installed Premiere and I started it up, it gave me a "this program needs to close" error. It does this when it loads the zigzag filter. Whenever I remove it and other filters, it gives me the same error with other things. I submited the error report and microsoft said it was the lame mp3 encoder that was interfereing but I dont have it on my system, nor do I remember installing it. I also read another person's problem with premiere and zigzag and they said it was nimo codec pack. I used to have that installed but I purged my system of it and the registry. Then I uninstalled/installed premiere again. It still gives the same error...

This error message you are receiving is happening when you first open and use Premiere, or while you are trying to upload your movie to Premiere? I'm a little unclear about what you said. Could explain a little more what's actually happening?

ok, when im starting up the program and its loading. I havent even reached the main screen. It does the "send error report" to microsoft thing. And also, its a fatal exception error.

Could you prephaps, take a screen shot of the error message and post it here? If you're using XP, click on details and it will give you more about the error message. While I use numerous Adobe products, I've never used or had Premiere. And when I had the others, I found installing them through Safe Mode a better deal and they seem to cause less problems afterward.

Could you try this then: If you're using Premiere 6.x for Windows, delete the Prem60.prf file from the C:/Program Files/Adobe/Premiere folder. This removes the Prefence file but upon rebooting computer Premiere will reinstall the new non corrupted one.

Sorry mike, I've tried everything I know of to remedy your problem. I did a search on Google for lameacm.acm and everything points to a codec. I'll keep looking but you should also.

Hi Mike.
Here is a link that might be helpful.

http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/29dba.htm

Just curious, did you check to make sure your capture card was compatible with Premiere?

Here are some comments by other Premiere users:

"The codec responsible for not being able to start APP for me was "lameacm.acm". This codec is installed when installing "Nimo codec pack". It didn't only mess up APP, but it allso made "mmc.exe" crash when I tried to go.

"I just installed Premiere 6.5 on WinXP, but it just won't start. The initalizing runs for approx. 1 minute until "ZigZag", and then the computer crashes and I get a windows problem message saying: AppName: premiere.exe AppVer: "

Just wanted you to know that you're not alone.

Thanks for jumping in Pat. I was at my wits end on this one and usually, I can find what I need to know at Adobe, not this time. So again thanks for helping Mike.

okay guys, Ive got good news. I read pat's guide on adobe.com and I found a remedy. I removed the 3rd party plug-ins and it worked fine. Only problem- there were not menus *sigh*. So I went back and put them all back in and experimented. I found that there were 3 culprit files. So may that help the next person.
