Unhappy Need help copying cam corder video to PC via Magix software
I can copy video from my JVC mini-DV cassette to my PC using Magix software via fire-wire but after the first several seconds of normal play back it then becomes jumpy - like it is skipping every 3 out of 4 seconds of the recording and just continues at this pace. Need help to id problem and fix? Thanks in advance!

1st try another dv editor to eliminate Magix. This one is free http://www.webattack.com/get/zweistein.shtml

Make sure DMA is enabled on hd's, and turn off all non-vital b/ground progs (this is biggest cause of dropped frames). I use EndItAll http://home.ptd.net/~don5408/toolbox/enditall/

It may just be doing that because the Magix software is over taxing your computer resources. That happens to me using Sony Screenblast, but once you output the movie to an AVI or MPEG or whatever format and then play it with Windows Media Player or other player, or burn it to a CD of DVD, it plays fine without the chop and jumpiness. Just try playing the same video you imported in Windows Media Player and see if you get the same problem. Also make sure you don't have a lot running in the background. I usually unload my virus scanner and other programs from memory to free up resources.
