It might be a problem with the website. They don't have the pictures uploaded, or linked (or correctly)

You can try right clicking on the box where it should be and left click on SHOW PICTURE and see if it comes up.

It usually means it's a problem with the webpage itself.

If it's a java applet, like it should be a chatroom, game or something active like that- and is only a clear box with a red x in it, then that can be your computer and java, settings, etc.

I only know that from experience. Internet Explorer6 doesn't come with Java like the older versions so you have to find it and install it yourself. Sunjava is one.

But if you think it's just an image (picture) with the blank box and red x that's probably something wrong with the website. Especially if it only happens on a few sites.

Did you turn it on in IE? Go to "Tools" then "Internet Options" click on the "Advanced" tab and scroll to "sun java" and click on a box. I'm using a different java program but I believe both would have "JIT compiler for virtual machine". Check that one. Also, under Multimedia in the same Advanced tab, make sure "Show Pictures" is checked.

Can you post the link to the webpages where the pictures aren't showing up for you on here?

Maybe it's not you- it's something wrong with the pages.

If it's not a java applet and just a plain picture, with a red X it's probably that the picture isn't there.

A java applet might be a chatroom or game. I had one on a website once, that changed and showed missing children (pictures). When I didn't have java installed it would only show a clear box with a red x.

But if it's just a pictuer not showing with a red x and only on a few places, that might not be something YOU can fix.

I have seen this suggested for the red X problem so check and see if you have this ticked in IE.

Tools from the menu bar->Internet Options->Advanced tab->under Multimedia, select the Show Pictures option->

Also can you right click the image and click show picture and get it to display that way? Maybe a repair of IE would fix this?

Here's a link with some info that might help.

Pictures won't show

I think the key here is it's only certain webpages.

Which makes me wonder if it's a problem with the webpages.

If yahoo is one of the sites then I don't think it's the site because yahoo is working fine on my computer and no red X's.
