Angry Corel Draw/Photopaint 9 low memory problem
I'm having trouble with draw and photopaint 9 running under winXP pro - both of them crash every time I try to open the options palette from the tools menu. I suspect this is because of low system resources since corel reports them as being approx
Swap = 9GB Mem= 1300 KB (displayed on the status bar of draw/photopaint)
Is this memory figure my problem and if so how can I recover it? It's worked fine for a long time and suddenly stopped working - I have tried the following:

- Reinstall of Corel , no effect, even the dialogs and toolbars remember their settings.
- Complete uninstall and trawl of the registry to get rid of corel info - got me a plain install but didn't solve the problem of memory.
- System restore to a point when it did work, no effect.
- HDD Defragment - no effect.
- Close all systray applets and disable transparent windows etc, no effect

Anyone have any ideas? It's my favourite graphics app and its now virtually unusable since I can't alter any preferences.

I've sent a e-mail to my Corel guru buddy as to the best user group he could recommend. I'll post it when he replys which knowing him will probably be Monday.

Give this a whirl. I hope it helps.

Try the Corel newsgroups. Look at http://support.corel.com/scripts/rig...p_faqid=754345 There’s also a lot of carry-over between PhotoPaint 9 and later versions so you might want to read the other newsgroups too.

Hi....
I'm having the same problem with Coreldraw 8. Just came out of the blue. I have tried reloads, erased every file I can find to do a clean install and still the same problem. Have you found an answer? Please help if at all possible

Yeah I fixed it eventually - I was running the desktop manager GUI extensions that came with the drivers for my Nvidia graphics card, extra buttons on the title bars of windows, transparency, dual monitor stuff, and that was taking up most of my memory. It all worked again when I switched it off. Unless you're also running those extensions then that's not really helpful - try bringing up the task manager, finding out if there's anything with a large memory footprint that you can do without, or disable a bunch of windows services and try it again.
