Simple printer question
My mother wants to buy a printer (HP 2610XI) to enlarge doll patterns. My question is does she have to have a computer in order to use it? Can she not just scan what she wants enlarged or copied without a computer? If not can someone direct me to what kind of printer she can use to enlarge without a processor?

From what I can tell by doing a quick read at hp's site... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00206630
your mother needs a computer do what she wants to accomplish. Just a suggestion, she can save a pile of money by going to a copy shop like Staples or Office depot and have them enlarge it for her.

If she had a computer she would have alot more control over what she is doing.

Then I would think she should be buying a computer if that is her intent. If your mom lives close to you why not suggest she buy a good printer and keep it at your house, seeing that you already have a computer. You would accomplish 3 things: 1-Lots of visits from mom 2-a brand spankin new printer 3-save your mom some money on the price of a new computer as well as all the aggravation of trying to learn to use it.( if she doesn't already know)

We have the HP officejet G85 that we bought 5yrs. ago and it works with a computer but it is also stand alone. We can copy, reduce, enlarge and every thing without turning the computer on, don't have to hook this up to a computer at all if you don't need to. It does more than one person needs like faxing and stuff but I reduce and enlarge patterns a lot and it's handy that I don't have to boot up to do this. It also has a sheet feeder so you can stack 10 different patterns in walk away and have coffee and each one has been scanned in, reduced and copied and many copies of each one made. They don't make this one anymore and it was $900 anyway but look through the HP site and see if any of the smaller all in ones are stand alone so you don't need a computer with it.

HP all in one's
