Photoshop Elements caption problem
6 December 2004

Dear Tech Support Guys,

Earlier this year I figured out how to put a one-line caption of 12-point type in the white border at the bottom of a print. But now I can't remember how I did it. (Getting old!)

I find nothing helpful in the Help files or user manual. Can anyone tell me what I did before? Whatever I did, it worked fine and the results look good. It should be a simple matter of creating a text box with a white fill and then typing into it. All I have been able to do is create black or white type on the picture itself, which I don't want.

Suggestions appreciated.

Ok so when you get the type up on the picture - all you need to do is create another layer between the text and picture
then on that layer select a rectangle area and fill with white then move the rectangle under the text.

there may be an easier way but i dont have elemets so not sure what to advise
it may be possible to fill with whicte the text layer

Dear Etaf,

Thank you for your suggestion. Between posting my plea for help and receiving your reply, I remembered how I solved this problem before (or figured it out all over a again!).

The basic idea is to resize the image so it extends down almost to fill the white border, then use the rectangular marquee tool to create a strip across the bottom of the image. The real key move is to RIGHT-CLICK in the strip, select Fill . . . and make it white. Then the text tool can be used to type the caption in black in the strip.

So I'm really putting the caption across the bottom of the image, not in the border, but you'd never know to look at it.

So thanks again. You'd think there'd be an easier way.

Cheers!
