Reads Camera as empty when I switch cards
I have 2 computers. 1 running on win2000, the other running on win98.

My hp digital camera and software work fine if I am using my 8 mb memory card on both computers. I purchased 2 other memory cards (128 mb) and my win 2000 computer will not recognize the pictures even though they are in the camera. (when I open the software it says the camera is empty, when it's not). Now if I use the same camera/software/128 mb card on my home computer which runs on windows 98 it works fine.

Is it something with Windows 2000??

Thanks for your help.

The first thing I would do is format the card in the camera without the computer attached.

Check with the camera connected on your Win98 computer whether you can go directly to a drive letter made by the camera to access the pictures. Most cameras made by the major camera manufacturers in the last couple of years make a drive letter you can access directly.

If Win98 makes a drive letter and Win2k doesn’t then I would suspect it needs a driver. Go to HP and get the Win2k driver. If the drive letter is there and the pictures are available directly there is a glitch in your HP software.

If HP is an oddball and doesn’t make the drive letter I would update both the software and Win2k drivers.
