jagged edges on graphic printouts
Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if someone can help me with a graphics problem. I am working in Print Shop (versions 10 and 20) trying to print out some very small logo type transfers. My problem is that no matter what size I make them (large or small) the image has the very jagged pixel edges. I am using the images included in the programs. They are intended for printing out flyers, newsletters, greeting cards etc. So I don't think they should have these edges like those found on a digital blowup.
I may have to do the graphics by hand in order to get the crisp edges I need...but I'm not looking forward to that ! Any advice ?
Thank you !
Krissa

What type of printer are you using, and does it have any options under setup for printing in higher resolution?

Do the edges also look jagged on the screen, or just on the printed copy?

Hi... I have a Brother Multifunction Center. It scans, prints, does faxing and has a digital photo card reader. It does have an option for print quality. I'm using the graphics supplied in the Print Shop and I just tried zooming in about 800%.... no jagged edges. I think what might have happened is that I put the Print Shop graphic into another program for editing (Corel Photo Paint) and that's when it got the jagged edges. Possibly because I saved it as a jpeg ? Would the file type I used to save the finished piece make a difference?

What type of file was it to begin with

You said it was included in the program...

probably a vector image...saving as a jpg will ruin it quality wize

what happens if you print it right form the program without edit?

here's a link to read... http://www.123clipart.com/vectrast.html

If the Print Shop image is vector, and you imported it into Corel Photo Paint, what happened is that Corel rasterized the image (changed the lines to pixels).

Once you zoom on a rasterized image above 100%, you'll see the pixels onscreen.

Kiwiguy is correct. Are you getting jagged edges onscreen, only on the printout, or both?
