Downloading Pictures
When I try to "Save As" a picture from the Internet, my only choice is "bmp".
How can I add jpeg or jpg? The drop down box in Save As only gives me the bmp choice. Thank you. John

The most common cause of this is that you have too many files in the "temporary internet files" folder.

In IE - Tools - Internet Options - General - Delete Files.

The files are just used as a "cache" and any required will be refreshed when you next visit the site. They should be cleaned out regularly.

Once you have saved it, reopen in a photo edit program and resave. Irfanview is a small photo edit program with a lot of handy features. http://www.irfanview.com/

If you have Xp you can open it in "windows picture and fax viewer" and save as a few different file types as well.

I have already cleared my temporay files. I do no use AOL. I used to have the default to download pictures as jpg. Now it will only let me download as bmp. Is there a setting, which I can't find, inside XP Professional I can change so the computer will default back to jpg? I do not want to recopy the pictures. I just want to download them as jpg from the start and now mess with anything else. Thanks and Happy Easter.

You didn't answer buck52's question. Download this image and make sure you don't have a jpg option: http://4mrpeanut.com/biplane.jpg

Try this as well - the first is a jpg and this is a jpeg. Sometimes there is a difference: http://owen2.otago.ac.nz/Owen/XuAir2004/More2004d.jpeg
