camera picture problems
Dad's Concord EyeQ digital camera is having problems. All the pics on the camera that were taken before Easter are fine, but the ones taken at Easter & afterward are all screwed up (for lack of a more technical term). Am attaching one of the pics.

Anyway we were wondering if anyone has any idea what could be wrong and if there is anything we can do about it & or of someone reputable (and inexpensive) to fix it. Thanks !!! Lisa

Looks like a very low resolution image. Its easy to accidently alter this when you are not familiar with the camera. Look in the cameras settings/manual for how to alter the image size. Look for a bigger quality setting. This is sometimes called fine or maybe hi-res.

almost looks like it's being displayed at 256 color rather than high color

Looks like your camera has only two resolution settings. Have a look at this picture taken from what I "think" is the correct user manual.

Thanks guys I'll have him try that & let you know if it works... Hope so I was afraid it would be something he would have to have sent away to fix.

Hey Lisaa
There is a good chance that the above instructions are not for the same model he has. If you can get the exact model number it would help.

The camera is a CONCORD EYE Q 3340z. There are four resolution sizes. 640X480 is the smallest. 2480X1536 is the largest.
The problem is the horizontal lines that go across the picture...As shown in this better copy (I hope)

OK
Just to eliminate the resolution and quality settings have a look on pages 22 & 23. (link to pdf user's manual http://www.concord-camera.com/upload...z%20InstrM.pdf) There is the resolution and also the quality settings. Get him to confirm he has tried both of these.

Both the Image Resolution and quality settings have been changed and attempts to take pictures of various settings were tried with no positive results.

I have cropped a piece from the sample image you sent me so that the other guys here can get a good look at the problem as well.

Could be interference in transferring from camera.
How is he transferring the images from the camera, is it usb or card reader? Just to eliminate a usb transfer problem he could take the card to someone that has a card reader, a kiosk or photo processor should be helpful.

As it turns out, there were some older pictures left on the camera that were taken before the problem developed.

Without deleting any of the pictures, they were all downloaded three different times from the camera and the older pictures downloaded properly. Only the pictures dating from Easter and forward downloaded this way.

Unfortunately, all the pictures have been deleted from the camera.

Only a few of the pictures have been deleted from the computer. They were pictures that were taken outside just after we received 6 inches of snow. That was two days ago. I believe there may still be some of those left.
