Photoshop 8
I have just got Photoshop 8 because I wish to remove the background on some images for a new web site. I am not making this work. Can anybody tell me how I remove the background from images that I have taken on my camera. It does not have to be with Photoshop. Thank you

Thank you Bassetman
However, I do not know what you have done to be able to take care of it. Kind regards.

You don't need to worry about what I did.

As to what you are trying to do, you can do you best of using the Lasso feature, then copy the image, then Paste it as a New Image.
Then continue to clean it up from there.
If you want, then you can make the area around you image transparent if you want.

As for what I did, I requested a moderator to move your thread from All Other Software to Digitial Photography and Imaging as this forum is better suited for Photoshop type questions. Sorry for any confusion

Do you know how to use the Lasso Tool? You can use the Lasso tool (preferably the magnetic lasso) to outline the portion of the image you want to keep then choose Select > Inverse. Go to Edit > Clear or Edit > Fill to fill the background with a color or whatever. This is a quickie I just did. (not very good, but you get the idea! )

Do you have to do something special to engage the magnetic Lasso?

It took me two tries to realize I had to double click to end the Lasso, but I think it wirked pretty well.
